The Tester
Reality TV. I hate it with a passion. I remember when Big Brother first aired in the UK and everyone was glued to their screens. I tried getting into it. Hell, I even watched most of the first series! I just didn’t really understand it. Why do I want to watch a bunch of normal people sit around in a room?
Of course with the popularity of reality TV, Sony Entertainment are jumping on the bandwagon and creating a video series called “The Tester“, an eight episode reality/gameshow with gamers competing to win the ultimate prize of being …wait for it… a games tester. Who in their right mind would want to WIN that job? Sure it is a good step into the industry but it is rare to climb up the hierarchy from there anyway.
I’m just going to rest my face in my hands for a few seconds.
Sony are not being original with their attempts to tap into a video game “reality TV” market. There was a show called WGC Ultimate Gamer, which ironically only had American contestants even though WORLD is in the title. Heads up – It was terrible.
On a side note: Off to Finland!

I agree that the idea of this show is retarded, but you can get to a other positions after being a tester, it just takes many years, and isn’t really that enjoyable.
That Penny Arcade comic is far too accurate, although the sludge at SCEE was mostly made of sawdust…
