Prague, POP and Pew Pew Pew
This week was another reminder of why I love doing what I do. It is also a reminder of why I need to work harder to do this full time. I’ve been pretty busy this week and today is the first day I’ve sat down and just relaxed.
On Tuesday I was off to check out Ubisoft’s new Prince of Persia release for Incgamers. It was nice to finally get some hands on time with the game and I got another chance at sitting down and doing an interview. I’m feeling a bit more relaxed about the whole interview thing and hopefully I did all right with my attempt. *crosses fingers* I’ll make sure you link you to the preview when it is done and up.
As soon as I got home from previewing POP, I started packing my suitcase. I’m off to Prague! I found out on Monday about the whole thing so didn’t really know what to expect. I left around 2am and walked around the horrible streets of London in search of a train to Gatwick. Apparently there are no trains after 1am and thetrainline.com lied to me! It wasn’t until 20 to 3 did I contact SEGA to beg for a taxi.
After a few more annoyances I managed to board my plane to Prague. After 1 and a half hours of the horrifically orange flight experience, I was in Prague. Wow! I stood around in arrivals for about 30 minutes until a very tall blonde lady turned up with a bit old SEGA sign. 2 hours later the rest of the European press arrived and we were carted off into a bus for our journey to the hotel. There were a few funny things planned by SEGA on our way to the hotel, none of which I think I can talk about yet.
We played the game on show and got very, very …. very merry. Had a great day out in Prague the next day and then were carted back to the airport where I had a 6 hour long wait on my own for my flight. Wouldn’t of been so bad if there was decent internet to access. Prague Airport is rubbish for the internet!
I got back to England around midnight and then got in a taxi home. Arrived about 1.30am and literally feel into bed after setting my alarm. 6 hours later I was back up and getting ready for checking out Lost Planet 2 for the day.
I can’t say I was very awake for the wonderful event put on by Capcom but I tried to play as much as my eyes would let me. I’m actually more excited for the game than I originally was. The multiplayer is good fun once you have learned the controls and it was nice to meet Jun Takeuchi (LP2 and Resident Evil 5 producer) again. I was a little upset to see that the interviews had been cut out as I was getting excited to interview Takeuchi one to one. Oh well!
Got back home for around 10pm and played a tiny bit of Perfect Dark on XBLA. Not used to how you shoot in that game so I’ll need to pump some hours into it this weekend along with writing previews and finishing off my Final Fantasy XIII guides. I’m off to play some games!
