So far? It’s awesome. There are a few frame rate issues but they rarely happen. I’ve been playing around in a world with Sam, Dom, Joe, but I hear even Martin has jumped in on the action.

The video is of our place so far. The train station is something of a project of mine because I basically like to use glass all the time. We’ve dug deep underground though finding awesome caves.

Anyway, enjoy the video and my brief cameo at the start before I shut the door on Sam and go to bed.

The most attractive bit is the one-off payment, which has always been something of a bugbear for me. I feel extremely guilty if I pay for time in a game and don’t get the most value out of it. I’m also one who likes to play a bit of everything at the time, so I couldn’t commit to one game for an entire month. Of course, Guild Wars 2 with it’s subscription-less package, make the idea of constantly going back extremely attractive.

I like MMORPGs I just don’t have the time to be truly attached to them any more. Plus I’d rather play a decent one-off price for a well crafted MMO than pay nothing at all for a crap one.

I’m pretty excited. I’m torn between Norn or Human at the moment. I love playing Amazonian characters but I like the idea of playing a noble princess-like human. I did enjoy the Elementalist role but I’m going to be playing around with roles when the game launches.

While I’m excited to see the game getting a remake, I’m also saddened to see that Nintendo has yet again failed to bring Project Zero 4, officially known as Zero: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, to the west. There’s already a fan translation available for those with a Japanese copy but the problem is getting hold of a copy. I’ve been trying for the last year and a half to get one on several bidding websites but everyone’s got a price limit. I can’t justify £80 on a Wii game right now. Sad face…

The above screen shows the major graphical changes with the new version (above, left) looking much prettier. I’m not sure I like the change in costumes however. Seems like a cheap attempt as showing off more skin, especially Mio, who appears to have also earned a substantial upgrade in the booby department.

Apart from the awful new voice cast, hopefully Project Zero II Wii Edition will remain super scary throughout. It’s heading to Europe on June 29th which is the same day as the 3DS spin off game Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir.

Ever since my local arcade closed down, I haven’t been able to play any Technika. I was hoping for an iPad version to eventually surface but luckily they’ve decided to release on Vita.

Not much is known how the PS Vita’s back screen will come into play but the controls look identical to the arcade version. The only thing known is that it was share visual similarities with Technika 2 but also host new songs and gameplay features. I can’t wait to see what those are!

The Atelier series is pretty niche, even among  jRPG fans, as the games generally don’t have a very involving – or particularly gripping – main story arc. You’re pretty much free to do as you please with a few interruptions here and there. Essentially it’s all about enjoying a cute, quirky and predominantly relaxing game where you control a clumsy girl who tries to save her alchemy store.

Oh and everyone seems to be totally in lesbians for Rorona. Not entirely sure why…

Another attraction is that the style is super adorable. While Atelier Rorona has rather rough character models, the overall style is gorgeous. Atelier Totori and Atelier Meruru both have more defined graphics that really showcase cell-shaded style on the PS3 and I can’t wait for my copies to turn up!

And while I’ll still prefer to play MMOs on a PC, FPS on a console, and fighters in the arcade, I’m growing more and more attracted to playing games on my mobile device. It’s not because I’m getting fed up with console gaming but the simple fact that I’m interested in a new platform to experience games. Plus, I always have my phone with me.

Apart from the obvious mini-games like Kairosoft’s iPhone library, or bird cruelty simulator, Angry Birds, I’m very interested in République.

République is a million dollar project from Camouflaj, with developers from AAA background and a really interesting concept. It’s essentially a stealth game but you assist Hope as she attempts to escape some totalitarian prison.

You receive a desperate phone call from Hope, a young woman trapped within a shadowy totalitarian state. Using a stolen phone, she calls and begs you to hack into the nation’s surveillance system, assume control, and help her escape from the clutches of the omnipresent Overseer.

You can read all about the game on the KickStarter page, or watch the video below, and I can’t help but feel excited about the whole thing. I think more developers working on good looking and interesting iPhone concepts is an exciting prospect. What about you?
