Wow, Did Anyone Notice How Cool are Today’s 3D Printers?

I mean, literally wow, I feel like I have been living under a rock in the last years. I remember I checked six or seven years ago when the first 3D printers were crap an article on BBC that called the rising of the new industry of 3D printers. I thought it was a stupid idea at that time, and I didn’t research more into the subject but God forbid, I didn’t expect the industry to develop so fast. I am stunned and happy at the same time since now I can certainly say 3D printers are not crap anymore.

I actually began researching the subject more lately, and I even have my favorite companies like Makerbot even though I do not have a 3D printer yet. There are a lot of articles on 3D printers which really helped me a lot because they include different models and I don’t have to look for each brand separately.

I felt even more stupid after I found out that even a market for 3D pens developed rapidly in the past years. I think I read somewhere that the first 3D pen was named something like 3Doodler if I am correct, and the project was crowdfunded on Kickstarter. You know, even describing this stuff makes me feel old, so I will let you search for it if you are interested.

However, there is a big minus that makes me not want to invest in 3d pens in particular. As you can see in the video at the end of the article, you have to be pretty inventive to take advantage of the forms the molded plastic leaves when it dries up. I am not a fan of it, but at the same time, I am pretty conscious that 3d pens are more or less a toy at the date of writing this article.

So why would you even care? Why is a 3D printer something you might want? I can’t tell you that, but I can tell you why I want a 3D printer.

  • I wouldn’t have to go to IKEA every time I want something as common as a recipient or holder, etc. You get the idea.
  • I am sick of never finding the right product in shops. If I want something, I’ll just print it just the way I want it.
  • Also sick of having to leave the home for something as banal as a glass holder.
  • It’s cheap
  • It’s convenient
  • It’s probably the future, just like PC’s turned out to be

There you go, here are my reasons. I don’t expect you to resonate with all of them but at least you can understand the bigger picture. Now if you want a 3D printer or a 3D pen although I wouldn’t recommend the latter, not now at least, you can find a massive number of article on the internet offering all sorts of selection from which you can choose the one you need.

Here’s a video about 3D pens that I found pretty funny.

About MacBooks and why I hate them

About MacBooks and why I hate them

I hate MacBooks and it’s a fact that they are expensive. The logical question rises everytime. Why are MacBooks so expensive? Well, die hard Apple fans say that it’s because of the superior design and quality. That’s true for the most part, but that’s about it. There is nothing else superior about Macs besides design and build quality. So are you gonna spend 2000 dollars on a computer just because it looks nice? Some people do actually but I will never will.

I prefer to save those money and buy something else that is useful for me and live with my ugly computer and ugly face for the rest of the time 🙂
